On September 30, 2010, in a heavily mined farmland in the Arghandab River Valley in Afghanistan, Army Cpl. David Bixler stepped on an IED and suffered the loss of both legs, damage to his spinal cord, traumatic brain injury, and other serious injuries while pushing an Afghan soldier to safety.
For the next three months David was in and out of surgeries for up to 18 hours per day.
November 17th, 2015 marked what will be another unforgettable day for David Bixler - the beginning of a new life, where he can feel independent of his injuries.
